Personal Experience
45 years old
Happily married, we have two sons
Illustrator
Learned drawing from my father, a retoucher and photographer
Drew and designed posters and other print materials in my youth, e.g. for local parties, the community cinema or school events
Tried all sorts of techniques, became pretty good with pencils
Did vector based illustrations and animations for some companies and clients I’ve worked for
Boy scout leader
Joined the boy scouts at the age of 10 and became quite enthusiastic about it.
Became a scout group leader at the age of 14 and was in that role for four years.
Later on became a co-leader of the entire local organization with about 50 scouts and stayed in that role for four years.
Planned camps, hikes and other larger scale events.
Also gave courses on scouting skills and participated in state-wide scout challenges.
T’was the good ol’ time. I still enjoy the rough outdoors with friends now and then.
Guitar player
Got infused with guitar playing as a boy at scout campfires.
Played in local metal bands while I was in high school
I still play a little bit from time to time, but just for myself and my two sons for now.
Judo Trainer
Started judo at the local sports club at the age of 9.
Became a co-trainer for the youth league of the local Judo club at the age of 16 and stayed in that role for five years.
Got back into the sport some years ago, after a long pause.
Craftsman
I love to hang out in my woodworking shop and craft benches, stools, cabinets etc.
I’m also revamping a motorbike from the 90’s to not look as ugly as it was designed originally.
Gamer
Although there’s little time left these days, I still enjoy a good online game with my brother once in a while.
Mostly action-based co-op games.
I’m fascinated by well done, theme-based interface designs in games, because they explore new ways of presenting and navigating contents, and they can significantly enhance the immersion and overall user experience.
